Dare to Care
April 15-22, 2007

What would our community be like if every person, business, school, and community organization in the Monterey Peninsula consciously completed one “act of caring” all at the same time?

Last year close to 3,000 children and adults
stepped up to the challenge.

This year Dare to Care Day, expands into Dare to Care Week in order to help celebrate activities during National Volunteer Week, Global Youth Service Day and Earth Day from April 15 through 22.

We invite you to find time during the week and commit to a specific act of caring – share the story of your activity to the Dare to Care website (even recruit others to join you) and celebrate making a difference.

AND POST YOUR OWN!

Community of Caring Monterey Peninsula is collecting the stories as well as the number of people that reflect our caring community spirit.

Share your story of the difference you, your staff and your students make at www.daretocaremontereybay.org Take up the challenge and find time to Dare to Care April 15 – 22!

Need some ideas for participating in
Dare to Care Week?

• Storytelling…share stories on acts of caring/acts of kindness – create a “storybook” to be shared with others (and send copies to Community of Caring to post on website!)

• Schools work with a business or community group for a collaborative project

• Students create bookmarks reflecting caring actions to share with public libraries, senior centers, books stores

• Hand out “I Dared to Care cards” for positive actions – redeemable for a goodie like a hug or a cookie or a walk on the beach

• Write a letter and send it to a soldier in Iraq,

• “ Pay it Forward” pass one good deed to another to pass to another…etc...

• Have a “pennies” drive with proceeds going to fund a needed project.

• Send a flyer home to families with ideas for Dare to Care Day.

• Make a Dare to Care Day or Week for a buddy at school – matching older & younger students for a class activity.

• Count the caring actions you or your colleagues do everyday but never stop to notice!

• Have students weed a flower bed during lunch, recess or P.E

• Write notes of appreciation to other staff members.

Can we top 3,000 participants in 2007?

You can pledege and share your activity three different ways by phone, by fax or by blog!
